The Best Chef Apron For You

The Best Chef Apron For You - Valentich Goods

With so many styles of chef aprons on the market it can be hard to choose the best option for you. Join me while I take a deep dive into our different styles of chef bib aprons and discuss the different features along with my recommendations!

As a FOH server, I've tied on an apron more days then not. And you know what sucks? An apron that you can't wait to take off. We've worked tirelessly on the design and build of our chef aprons to bring you a bib apron that has the perfect balance of form, function, and style.

We have an apron for everybody and every body, from the professional chef pulling 60+ hour weeks to the outdoor cooking enthusiast to the casual home chef. Click on each photo to shop that selection.

CROSS-BACK APRONS FOR THE PRO

For a chef who pulls down long hours working in a professional kitchen, we recommend cross-back aprons all the way. Now - I know - chefs tend to have strong opinions about them. I've talked to chefs who won't wear anything but and chefs who refuse to try them on. BUT, if you're willing to give a cross-back apron a shot, (and it's really not complicated) your neck and back will thank you for it.

About half the aprons we sell are cross-back and we currently offer two different styles:  fixed and unfixed. Personally, we love the unfixed cross-back as this offers the most universal and snug fit.

A fixed cross-back apron is only adjustable behind the shoulders. As you can see in the photo below, it is bar-tacked at the waist and the waist tie is separate. This style of apron can be hard to adjust to your size at first, but once you have it adjusted to the right fit it stays in place every time you take the apron off, which equals less twisting of the ties. Unless otherwise stated, all of our restaurant aprons are available in a fixed cross-back style.

An unfixed cross-back apron is grommeted at the waist. Each strap is one long piece so as you tie at the waist, the whole apron adjusts for a perfect fit. To me, this is the most comfy option and is great for a restaurant with many different body types as it offers a fully customizable fit. I also love the bit of bling you get from the grommets.

POCKET STYLE

For the professional chef, we recommend our signature slanted chest pocket. When you wear an apron all day, less is more. Our signature chest pocket can be utilized for your sharpie and/or tweezers and you won't have to worry abut everything falling out of your pocket when you bend over.

CLASSIC STRAP APRONS FOR THE HOME CHEF

When I'm cooking at home, I prefer our classic strap style apron with a full chest pocket. Unless you have marathon cooking events, I think the classic straps are comfy for short bursts in and out of the kitchen. The full chest pocket allows you to keep your phone close and a pen at hand for crossing items off your recipe list.

I think our brightly colored aprons are great for the home chef. Make a statement with a splash of bold red or salmon pink. Your guests will never know you've been frantically chopping and swearing for the last hour! Or does that only happen in our kitchen?
